Festive Classroom Activities
We couldn’t wait for the start of December and all the Christmas planning to start, at home and in the classroom. You can encourage your class to get involved and start celebrating the festive season with lots of exciting activities that cover a range of different subject areas from arts and crafts through to literacy and numeracy.
Why not celebrate the last week of term before the Christmas break with these fun classroom activities:
Make a class Christmas tree – Give each child an equal triangle and get them to decorate it using paints, glitters and sequins. Once finished they can then be assembled into one large tree to be displayed in the classroom.
Create your own Christmas flash cards – Make a selection of cards that have different Christmas symbols on them. The bright colourful pictures will help to teach the class about Christmas and are also great for matching and phonics games.
Christmas tree play mat – Start by printing out a large plain Christmas tree and get the class to take it in turn putting on different amounts of decorations, a great way to encourage group learning and numeracy fun.
Make a Christmas wreath – A fun arts and craft activity for the whole class, ask the children to cut out their handprints in green paper then attach them together to create a circle. They can then decorate the wreath to take home.
